The Bizkaia Bridge, which was design
ed by the architect Alberto de Palacio, is classified as a work of art in engineering. It is the first Ferry Bridge in the world and one of the most outstanding constructions of the European Industrial Revolution and of the19th century’s iron architecture.
This surprising work, that combines beauty, aesthetics and functionality to perfection, is located at the mouth of the River Nervión, between the municipalities of Portugalete and Getxo, and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006.
Its panoramic footbridge, which is at a height of 45m, can be visited, ascending between its towers in a panoramic lift, and you can also enjoy a trip in its nacelle, crossing the estuary from one bank to another, which is in operation 24 hours a day.
A 160-meter walk, 45-meter high, which will make your visit an unforgettable experience.
